Mentee Application Process

Colleges and universities seeking mentoring for the CAE application process need to submit a completed Applicant Checklist to the CAE Program Office. To be considered for a mentor, be sure to answer "Yes" to the question "Do you opt to receive support via the CAE Application Assistance Program?" at the bottom of the first page.

  • Two-year community colleges, technical schools, and training centers: Complete the online CAE2Y Program Checklist, located on the www.caecommunity.org website.
  • Four-year colleges and graduate-level universities: Complete the online CAE-CDE Program Checklist, located on the www.caecommunity.org website.

If you have problems completing an online form, you can also download a .PDF version of the form, fill it out, and email it to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The Program Checklist guides applicants through the program requirements and provides a self-assessment of readiness. Applicants who opt to receive support will have their inventories reviewed and will be referred to one of two assistance paths:

  • Applicants who are assessed to require more than one year to be ready for designation will be assigned to Program Development.  In this phase, the applicant will have access to workshops, seminars, and an advisor to help in their preparation for designation. Schools in this phase will also be invited to programs and events hosted by the CAE Community, and have access to other resources offered by the Program Office only for the CAE audience.
  • Applicants who are assessed to be within one year of readiness for designation will be assigned to Application Assistance.  In this phase, the applicant will work directly with a mentor to complete the application.
